With the purchase of a home elevator you may qualify for certain tax deductions. If you purchased a home elevator due to medical reasons, you should get a letter from your doctor stating the the elevator is required due to your medical condition. You may have some or all of the home elevator cost deducted from your taxes if the medical expense are greater than 7 ½” percent of your income. Always consult a tax professional to be sure of the deductions.
If you have approximately 20 square feet our home elevator will meet your minimal requirements. We custom build every residential elevator to your specifications and space limitations. An 8” recessed pit is required for all home elevators to insure proper running clearances. With a standard cab height of 6’- 8” you will only need an overhead (distance from the top floor to the ceiling) of 8’- 0”. This space increases as the cab height increases.
The general contractor on the job will need to provide two circuits for the
elevator to the machine room. One 220 Volt circuit for the elevator and one 110
volt circuit for the car lighting. Horizontal or vertical supports in one wall will be required to withstand the weight of the elevator. Your elevator contractor will have all specifications for the location of these supports.
Each residential elevator is custom designed and built to meet your needs. As well as conforming to and exceeding ANSI / ASME A17.1-2000 and A17.5-1996 Elevator and Escalators safety codes.
